Please enjoy this little interview with Johnathan & look for more to come!
I got into Fixed Gear bikes in 2009 cause it was cool at my school, and then I ended up actually liking it more than everyone else and as you can see, I stuck with it. Council Of Doom and Death Pedal 2 videos motivated me to learn tricks and make videos.
What riders did you look up to when you were young?
So many, I was the ultimate Fixed Gear fanboy. Matt Spencer and Joe Mckeag were 2 of the earliest inspirations for sure though. Two former Resist and Volume riders!
You’re in LBC right?
How’s the scene down there & do you think it’s had an influence on your riding & your passion for all things fixed?
Yup I've been in Long Beach for the last few years now but grew up a little more south in Costa Mesa. I don't know if I'd be riding bikes if I didn't live down here. The scene was super strong and really kept motivation and activity high. It's nice now because I'm closer to Deacon and Pizza plus closer to LA so I can ride with the dudes up there more often.
You seem to run a few different set ups & bikes, is there a main bike that you prefer?
Really depends on the situation, but I definitely gravitate towards two of my bikes mostly: My 26" Ruff build for the BMX side of tricks and my 700c Master Courttek for flatground Trick Track side of things. I have a track bike and some more inbetweeners that are fun too though.

How’s the collection going? Do you need any Resist Cranks?
The collection is nowhere close to where I want it, but I have limited space right now so it's hard to justify buying 47 frames to put on a wall. I do have some goodies I'm proud of though. Collection video coming soon? Also yes I will always take more Resist cranks since it seems to be the part I'm always running short of.
Everyone (seemingly) knows you’re the go to for fixed news with suckmycog.com & affiliated social media. How did that come about & did you think it would turn into what it is today?
When I started the website it began as just a way to share some content of myself and friends. I didn't know that all the blogs and websites would die out, so I wanted to make sure there was a space for people to go to for all the latest content and news and just kept going. This year we actually had the most visitors in the site's history so thats exciting!
Besides riding & SMC, what else keeps you busy these days?
Aside from my full time content job and freelance content work, I spend a lot of time being active. Lifting weights, running, and lots of boxing. I competed in my first amateur fight recently and it was such a unique experience. I'm also into competitive Super Smash Bros Melee, but I'm not very good yet.
Did you ever think that your email asking us to revive Resist would lead to this sponsorship?
Honestly I thought that email would just be ignored and lost in the void. Proof that it was worth a shot though!
Anyone you want to shout out besides Pizza & Deacon?
Suzie, SMC crew, Master + Ruff squad, Slow Spin Society, Ethan Corriere and Epic for always building my wheels, Fixed Pirates, Fixated lads, FOAD boys, Ephemeral Gang, Max, Satoshi, Volume and Resist for listening to my email. Pretty much just everyone who's still into Fixie trixies.
Is there anything else you want people to know or look out for?
Keep tabs on Fixedgeararchive.com cause I'm adding to it every week. New edits almost done from myself and some others!
Apparently he needs to recover from Xmas shopping before he purchases. Maybe I'll be nice and buy him one instead though.
